Instead, both players failed the medical examinations carried out before the transfers were to be completed, and the contracts were cancelled at the last moment. What began as a public celebration on arrival turned into an abrupt end to the planned moves.
Flamengo and Botafogo — the players' Brazilian clubs — reacted with strong dissatisfaction. According to reports from Brazil, both clubs are examining the possibility of legal action and suspect that Dynamo Moscow may have used the medical checks as a pretext to withdraw from transfers that had been negotiated.
The quick reversal leaves Plata and Martins without the transfers that had been widely expected; there were no presentations or first training sessions, and the further course of the situation remains unclear.
