Excavators remove stalls at Bit Pazar in Skopje

Late this afternoon excavators and other construction machinery began removing market stalls at Bit Pazar in Skopje.

The stalls are owned by a private company, and Čair Municipality has not yet provided an explanation for the clearance. The municipality said it will release further details tomorrow.

Video shows fenced area and debris being loaded

Footage of the operation shows an excavator gathering remains of construction material and loading them into a truck. The action takes place inside an area enclosed by a metal fence, resembling a construction site.

When asked whether the City of Skopje had received any requests or approvals related to the removal, city officials redirected the question to Čair Municipality, saying the City is not competent for the matter.

Authorities in Čair are expected to provide additional information tomorrow; the situation will be followed for further developments.
