Skopje pays 6,000 denars to oncology patients

The City of Skopje has disbursed 6,000 denars to cancer patients who applied for municipal financial aid, Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced, saying more than 1,200 people from Skopje submitted requests.

Gjorgjievski said on his Facebook page that payments for all approved applications have been completed or will be executed during the following day, and that the call for financial support remains open to further applicants.

In his message the mayor emphasized the human side of the numbers, writing: "Behind every number stands a person. There is a family. Sleepless nights, fear, hope and a huge struggle."

The mayor also stressed that institutional assistance should focus on tangible help for citizens facing serious life challenges, urging that public resources reach those in need quickly and effectively.

According to the municipal announcement, every eligible oncology patient approved under the scheme receives a single payment of 6,000 denars. More than 1,200 applications were submitted from residents of Skopje.

The city says it will continue to process eligible applications as the support program remains open, and further disbursements will be made for requests that meet the criteria.
