Greek teenager Konstantinos Karetsas joins Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of 18-year-old Greek forward Konstantinos Karetsas, the club announced on 03.08.2026 15:50.

Karetsas arrives from Belgian side Genk for a fee of 33 million euros plus percentages on any future transfer, a price Dortmund judged reasonable given his record as one of Europe's most promising youngsters.

From Genk youth to senior breakthrough

Born in Genk, Belgium, Karetsas featured heavily for Genk last season, appearing in 49 matches across all competitions and recording 3 goals and 18 assists. Those numbers underpinned Dortmund’s decision to invest in the teenager.

Although he represented Belgium at youth level, Karetsas switched his international allegiance and made his senior debut for Greece in March 2025. Since that debut he has totaled 10 appearances for the national team, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist.

The transfer adds youthful attacking depth to Dortmund’s squad as they aim to blend established stars with emerging talent. The club will now integrate Karetsas into their training programme and assess how he fits into the first team plans for the coming season.
