Hansi Flick surpasses Guardiola and Luis Enrique as Barcelona set club best after four rounds

Hansi Flick has overseen an electrifying start to the season at Barcelona: four straight La Liga wins, 17 goals scored and just two conceded — a +15 goal difference after four rounds that marks the club’s best performance at this stage.
Flick breaks historic benchmarks
Barcelona recorded three emphatic wins with five goals each this month, defeating Elche and Valencia 5:0 and beating Rayo Vallecano 5:2 at Camp Nou. The only match that proved tight was the 2:0 victory over Athletic Bilbao.
The team’s defensive numbers are equally striking. Goalkeeper Joan García has conceded only two goals since the start of the campaign; both were scored by Sergio Camello in the 5:2 win over Rayo. After four rounds Barcelona sit on a +15 goal difference — the best the club has posted at this point in a season.
Flick’s side surpasses the early-season tallies of Barcelona teams from 1929/30, 2009/10 and 2014/15 — the latter two years managed by Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique respectively. All three of those coaches also recorded four wins and a +11 goal difference after their first four matches.
On the broader La Liga scale, Barcelona have matched the second-best start: Real Madrid’s 1958/59 side also had an impressive 19 goals scored and four conceded after four rounds. The all-time league benchmark remains Real Madrid’s 1987/88 campaign, when they scored 21 and conceded just one.
Flick also set a personal club record: he now has the most wins in his first 80 matches as Barcelona manager, with 63 victories, overtaking Luis Enrique (62) and Pep Guardiola (61). Flick has already won two consecutive La Liga titles with Barcelona and is hunting a third.
Barcelona will aim to extend this run before the three-week international break. In La Liga they will travel to Levante and Sevilla, with a home game against Racing Santander sandwiched between those fixtures. Before the break the Catalans open their Champions League campaign at Camp Nou against Feyenoord on Wednesday.
