Chaos in Turkish football: Fans demand resignation of Ibrahim Hadziosmanoglu and coach Montella

Turkey lost 0-1 to France and then, on Monday night, suffered a 4-1 defeat against Italy. The heavy results at home intensified fan anger directed at Ibrahim Hadziosmanoglu, whose presence at the stadium was met with loud boos at the end of the first half. According to reports, he left the ground at halftime and did not return for the second half.

Calls for accountability and recalled promises

From the stands supporters chanted: "Give us Hadziosmanoglu's villa," a reference to the federation president's pre-World Cup pledge that players would receive luxury villas in Bodrum — a promise that did not translate into results on the pitch. The confrontation between fans and the federation president dates back to the World Cup, when a dispute with supporters during the match against the United States escalated publicly.

Fans are asking that both the head of the federation and coach Montella step down after back-to-back home defeats. The federation president's close relationship with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also been noted in the reaction surrounding the team.

Turkey's next fixtures are scheduled as away matches in Belgium and Italy; how the federation will respond and who will remain in their posts following those visits remains to be seen.

The unrest on the terraces adds pressure on a national setup already struggling for consistency and invites debate about leadership both on and off the field.
