Ilija Nestorovski leads HNL in duels won
After eight rounds Nestorovski has 52 duels won and five goals, tied third on the scorers list.
Ilija Nestorovski, the former leading striker of North Macedonia, has emerged as the top player for duels won in the opening rounds of the Croatian HNL season.
According to Croatian statisticians, Nestorovski leads the league in the category of duels won after the first eight rounds of the new HNL campaign.
Specifically, Nestorovski has prevailed over his direct marker exactly 52 times. He has left behind players such as Josip Mitrović and Luka Vrbančić in that ranking.
Form and goals
Beyond his work rate and physical presence, Nestorovski has been clinical in front of goal this season. He has scored five goals so far and is currently tied for third place on the league’s scorers list.
At 36 years old, the striker’s performances underline that he remains at a high level, but his current form has not been enough to secure a recall to the North Macedonia national team — despite the national side’s pressing need for goals.
