Inaki Williams ends international career — will no longer play for Ghana

Inaki Williams has announced he is retiring from international football and will no longer represent Ghana. The Athletic Bilbao striker made the decision public on September 12, 2026.

Key details of his international career

Williams made his debut for the Ghana national team in 2022 and finished his international spell with 28 appearances. During that period he featured at two FIFA World Cups.

He played for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and again at the 2026 tournament. Williams was also part of the squad for one Africa Cup of Nations.

According to the announcement, the forward will now concentrate exclusively on his club duties with Athletic Bilbao as he continues his career at club level.

The 12 September 2026 decision closes a four-year chapter for Williams with the Ghana national side while leaving him available solely for his club commitments.
