Manchester City: Enzo Maresca to address players on Thursday

Manchester City will reconvene as a full squad on Thursday, October 5, 2026, with head coach Enzo Maresca expected to address the players for the first time since an independent panel found the club guilty of serious Premier League financial breaches.

What will happen at City this week

The team will hold a joint training session at the City Football Academy on Thursday, ending a period in which most players were spread around the world on international duty and did not train together in Manchester following the panels ruling. The club has publicly disputed the findings and filed an appeal.

Maresca is due to speak to the squad after the training session. The meeting will be the first opportunity for the coaching staff to address the entire group in person since the verdict, and will be watched closely as a barometer of the dressing-room mood.

Citys next match after the ruling is the high-profile league derby at Anfield against Liverpool. That fixture is expected to be the first on-field test of how the players respond to the off-field developments and to growing public debate in England about potential sanctions for the club.

Several first-team players were away on national team duty during the two-week interval. Phil Foden and Antoine Semenyo remained at the clubs facilities during the break, while communication with those representing their countries across the globe was mainly remote.

Enzo Fernández will be the last to return after taking part in Lionel Messis farewell match against Benin with Argentina. England internationals Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi and Rico Lewis are also due back in Manchester after the Nations League match against Czechia, but their arrival at the clubs training ground is not expected before Thursday.
