Blagoj Guginov achieved a landmark result for Macedonian canoeing at the European Junior Canoe Slalom Championship in Grandtully, Scotland, securing a place in the big final and finishing 9th overall in the junior category.
The qualification alone was a major step: only the top 15 paddlers from the heats advanced to the final, and the field at the championship included competitors from 19 European nations. Guginov negotiated demanding rapids and strong international rivals to earn his spot among Europe’s best juniors.
Solid showing against top continental opposition
In the final ranking Guginov appears ninth, a result that carries extra weight given the depth of talent on display. Reaching the final confirmed his competitive stability and ability to perform in high-pressure runs on a technically challenging course.
The outcome is being read as more than a single competition result: it marks a historic milestone for the sport in North Macedonia and an important development for the country’s youth program in canoe slalom. For Guginov, the experience in Grandtully will serve as valuable preparation as he moves forward in international races.
