Brvenica runoff: turnout 13.82% by 11:00, up 4.71 percentage points

Members of the State Election Commission, led by chairman Bojan Maričić, visited three polling stations in the Municipality of Brvenica on the second round of voting for mayor and reported an orderly process during a press briefing.

Turnout and early figures

By 11:00 the Commission said turnout across all 24 polling stations stood at 13.82 percent: 2,245 of the 16,256 registered voters had cast ballots. The highest turnout by 11:00 was recorded at polling station 2044 with 22.12 percent, while the lowest was at polling station 2047 with 5.33 percent, Maričić said.

Comparing the two rounds, Maričić noted an increase in early participation. At the same time point two weeks ago, 1,480 voters had voted by 11:00 — 9.11 percent of registered voters — whereas this morning the share is 13.82 percent (2,245 voters), he said.

The Commission received one complaint about the protection of the personal voting right before 11:00; the complaint was upheld and the voter was permitted to vote, the officials added.

Officials also activated a free telephone helpline for citizens with questions about voting procedures and a separate number for people with hearing impairments.

Commenting on the observations from the three polling stations they visited, Maričić said: "At the three places we visited everything was running normally; where there was more crowding and more attempts at identification, all were successful, so what we saw is an increased interest, but also a normal course of voting."
