A fire truck was seriously damaged while crews fought a blaze in Dolna Belica; two firefighters were hospitalized and the mayor visited them.
A fire damaged a fire truck from the Territorial Firefighting Unit (TPPE) Struga while crews were extinguishing a blaze in the village of Dolna Belica; two firefighters were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Details of the incident
During firefighting operations in Dolna Belica, the flames spread to and severely damaged one of the unit’s vehicles. Authorities say a much more serious incident was avoided.
Two firefighters sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to hospital to receive medical attention. They were visited at the hospital by Struga’s mayor, Mendi Ḱura, who extended his wishes for their swift recovery.
Officials reported that the material damage to the vehicle is substantial, but highlighted that there were no more serious consequences for human life.
Fire crews remain deployed on the scene continuing efforts to fight the fires in the area.
No further details have been released at this time about the cause of the blaze or the condition of the injured beyond their hospital transfer and the mayor’s visit.
