Eggs from Ukraine recalled in UK after Salmonella found in batch 3UA1012066
The Food Standards Agency ordered an immediate recall of Yasensvit Ltd eggs after tests found Salmonella Enteritidis matching a strain from 36 cases in England.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has ordered an immediate recall in the United Kingdom of eggs imported from Ukraine after laboratory tests detected Salmonella Enteritidis in a specific batch.
The recall covers all sizes and best-before dates of eggs produced by Yasensvit Ltd that bear the imprint code 3UA1012066. The FSA said the strain found in those eggs matches a strain that has been identified in 36 people in England this year.
Authorities say the suspect eggs were mainly distributed to restaurants, cafés and other catering businesses, though some packs may have reached smaller shops. They were not supplied through major supermarket chains, according to available information.
Businesses have been instructed to stop using and selling any eggs with the affected code immediately and to destroy remaining stocks. Consumers are advised to check the code imprinted directly on eggs, since products may have been repackaged and outer packaging labels can differ from the marking on the eggs themselves.
What this means for public health
Genetic testing confirmed Salmonella Enteritidis in the imported eggs, and the identified strain corresponds to the one found in 36 infected people in England. Investigators say this strain is not linked to the three strains associated with a wider Salmonella outbreak in the UK.
That wider outbreak has involved at least 650 people, with 99 hospitalisations and two deaths. The broader investigation has been under way since the first reported cases in July and continues as officials analyse samples and trace possible sources.
“We detected Salmonella Enteritidis in eggs imported from a producer in Ukraine and took urgent action to protect public health,” said Jacqueline McCormick, the FSA emergency response lead.
In case of symptoms such as diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting or fever after consuming potentially affected eggs, health advice is to seek medical guidance—especially for young children, older adults, pregnant people and anyone with a weakened immune system.
