Coritiba captain injured falling into player tunnel during goal celebration
Coritiba captain hurt after jumping advertising board into an open player tunnel while celebrating versus Chapecoense; later substituted and taken for checks.

Coritiba captain Jacy Maranhão suffered an injury while celebrating a goal in the club’s match against Chapecoense on 09.08.2026, when a jump over the perimeter advertising led him into an open player tunnel at the side of the pitch.
According to video from the scene, Maranhão had scored before halftime and, caught up in the celebration, vaulted the advertising hoarding toward the stands — not realising that directly behind the board there was an opening that leads down to the players’ tunnel; he fell on landing and hurt himself. The defender and captain was not prepared for the drop and was visibly affected when he came back up onto the field. Although he briefly signalled that the injury did not seem serious, he was later substituted and taken away in a medical vehicle for further examinations. Video of the incident circulated widely
Clips of the celebration and the fall were shared across social platforms and picked up by multiple outlets, showing the odd sequence that interrupted the match and prompted on-field attention from medical staff. Coritiba will monitor Maranhão’s condition and release updates after the hospital checks; the club’s captain is a regular member of the team and the incident was described as an accident during a spontaneous celebration.
