Public sector to get certified internal auditors
The Ministry of Finance will run a national certification exam to create authorized internal auditors for public institutions, with materials prepared with EU support.

For the first time in North Macedonia, the Ministry of Finance will organize a national examination to grant a certificate for an authorized internal auditor in the public sector.
"This represents a significant step forward in improving the system of internal financial control in the public sector and is part of the continuous activities of the Ministry of Finance aimed at more responsible, more transparent and lawful operation of institutions," the Ministry said.
The ministry stated that administering the exam and certifying internal auditors will immediately strengthen the capacities of internal audit units across public sector entities.
European integration and reform links
"The establishment of the national exam is also important from the perspective of the European integration process. By organizing it, a step is taken toward full implementation of the European Union's recommendations in this segment of Chapter 32 – Financial Control, while also contributing to the successful execution of the next steps of the Reform Agenda in this area," the Ministry said.
According to the announcement, the exam materials were prepared with technical and expert support from the European Union for the Ministry of Finance – the Central Harmonisation Unit.
"The Ministry expresses its gratitude to the European Union for the support in implementing this significant process," the Ministry of Finance said. The ministry did not specify exact dates for the first national exam; it indicated that further information on the schedule and participation criteria will be published by the ministry.
