Cholo wins comfortably in Seville even without Alvarez

On 29 August 2026, in the third round of LaLiga, Atlético Madrid beat Sevilla 3-1 away, racing to a 3-0 lead before halftime and holding on after a late response from the hosts.

The visitors opened the scoring just four minutes into the match. Álex Baena latched on to a pass from Li Kang-In and finished low into the near post to make it 0-1. Atlético continued to look dangerous and added a second before the half.

Two quick strikes sealed the first half

In the 26th minute Lukman turned inside the box and shot with his right foot into the goalkeeper's corner to double the advantage. Seven minutes later Baena found space again on the right and thundered a shot into the net to make it 0-3.

Sevilla pulled one back in the 66th minute when Sierra reacted quickest in the penalty area and converted to reduce the deficit to 1-3. The home side pressed high in search of another goal but Atlético defended their lead until the final whistle.

The victory leaves Atlético with seven points from three rounds, while Sevilla remain on six.
