Juventus fined €10,000 after fans turned backs during Sandro Mazzola tribute
A small group in the Tribuna Sud turned their backs during the tribute; the club was fined but avoided a stadium-sector closure after distancing itself.
The Italian sporting tribunal has imposed a fine on Juventus after a group of the club's supporters turned their backs during a minute's silence held for Sandro Mazzola before the Serie A match with Atalanta, a game Juventus won 2-0. The ruling, issued on 22.09.2026, punished the club with a €10,000 fine.
During the commemorative pause some fans in the "Tribuna Sud" section deliberately failed to observe the silence ordered by the Italian Football Federation and later insulted the Inter and national football legend, while chanting the names of deceased Juventus icons Gaetano Scirea, Andrea Fortunato and former club president Gianni Agnelli.
Sanction reduced because of club stance
The sports court said the sanction was softened after Juventus promptly and publicly distanced itself from the conduct and because the rest of the stadium spectators did not support the incident.
"Juventus is fined €10,000 because a small number of supporters seated in the 'Tribuna Sud', in the first tier, demonstratively did not comply with the minute's silence ordered by the Italian Football Federation," the ruling states.
"The sanction is mitigated in view of the timely official stance of the club regarding the aforementioned condemnable behaviour, as well as the separation from the remainder of the spectators at the stadium," the decision adds. There had been a risk the sector could be closed if a harsher punishment had been imposed, but the tribunal's outcome avoids that measure.
