Safe City cameras put into operation in Debrca, coming soon to Ohrid

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that, after the completion of the final tests, the security cameras of the traffic surveillance system "Safe City" on the highway section between the villages of Gorenci and Trebenishta, in the municipality of Debrca, have been put into operation.

The statement says that the equipment for the system in Ohrid and its surroundings has already been installed and that it will start operating soon, after the remaining technical inspections and tests are completed. The Ministry did not state a specific date for the start of recording.

What does the "Safe City" system bring?

'According to the Ministry, the "Safe City" system will enable more efficient and continuous traffic control, easier detection of violations and greater traffic discipline, with the aim of increasing road safety and reducing the number of traffic accidents.'

The Ministry emphasized that the technology will support the work of services in traffic monitoring and regulation, but also that it is necessary for drivers to respect the rules.

'The Ministry appeals to drivers to consistently comply with traffic rules and regulations.' The police announced that teams will continue with calibrations and testing while the system is expanded in the region.
