Candidate for Police Secondary School eliminated after administrative check; family demands explanation
Father from Gostivar says his son met the requirements and submitted notarized documents but was removed after administrative screening; the ministry says the candidate failed the administrative selection.
Ivica Ilkoski from Gostivar says he does not know why his son was stopped at the administrative stage of selection for the Secondary Police School “7 May” at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to Ilkoski, the family submitted all documents listed in the public call but the candidate was not invited to the next phase — the motor skills check — and received no explanation.
Father demands concrete reason for elimination
Ilkoski says the family provided notarized copies of the required paperwork and even a medical certificate issued in Tetovo when requested, yet they were not informed of the outcome. "We were not informed at all about the result, and our documents were complete. Among other things they asked us to submit a medical certificate from Tetovo, not from Gostivar. All of that is connected; in a way we are not informed about anything. My son meets all the conditions set out in the call. We want them to tell us the reason why he was not invited. They cannot eliminate him without giving a reason," Ilkoski said.
The MIA confirms the candidate did not proceed to the next phase, explaining that this indicates he "did not pass the administrative selection." The ministry adds that the admission commission reviews timeliness and completeness of documentation and the degree to which candidates meet the conditions before any testing phases begin, and that the final ranking list will be published after the selection process ends.
Ilkoski has filed a complaint with the ministry but says he has not received any response. He says his son was not even given the opportunity to demonstrate physical ability in the scheduled motor tests, nor to sit the written exam or interview. The family wants the commission to point out which specific administrative requirement was unmet.
The public call states applicants for the Secondary Police School must meet general and special conditions: North Macedonian citizenship; be under 18 years of age on the day the call was published; active use of the Macedonian language; health and psychophysical fitness; at least a "good" overall grade for the first two years of secondary education; and no pedagogical measures recorded. Required documents include birth certificate, proof of citizenship, certificates for first and second year of secondary school, medical certificate for health and psychophysical fitness and two photos — originals or notarized copies.
Selection is carried out in three phases: motor skills check, written test and interview. The motor exam sets minimums: height — 170 cm for men and 160 cm for women; push-ups — minimum 9 for men and 6 for women in 10 seconds; sit-ups — minimum 16 for men and 12 for women in 30 seconds; standing long jump — minimum 170 cm for men and 140 cm for women (two attempts); 100 m sprint — maximum times 15 seconds for men and 18 seconds for women; and a 1,200 m run for men with a minimum/limit time of 5 minutes (600 m and 2:30 for women). Motor skills scoring totals up to 40 points; a candidate who misses the minimum in one exercise may still pass the phase if the cumulative score from the other exercises is at least 21. The written test contains 40 multiple-choice questions and requires at least 21 points to pass; the interview is worth up to 20 points, with a minimum of 11 to pass.
