Carlos Cuesta leaves Parma by mutual agreement

Carlos Cuesta is no longer the head coach of Parma. The club and the Spaniard parted ways on 27.09.2026 by mutual agreement after disagreements over the direction of the club rather than because of the team’s poor start to the new Serie A campaign.

Parma collected only four points from the opening five rounds of the season, but club management did not move to dismiss Cuesta for results. Sources within the club said the split came down to differences with the club’s leadership about long-term plans and footballing direction.

The 27.09.2026 exit is formally recorded as a mutual decision rather than a sacking: Cuesta left the role in agreement with the club and will not be listed as dismissed.

Coach turnover in early Serie A

This is already the third head-coach departure in the Italian top flight since the season began. Earlier exits included Fabio Grosso at Fiorentina and Tedesco at Bologna, making managerial stability an early-season challenge across Serie A.

Parma have yet to announce a permanent successor. The club will now face the task of stabilising results while dealing with internal disagreement that prompted Cuesta’s departure.

The international break has in recent weeks proved disruptive for many clubs; additionally, there were reports of an injury to Alexander Isak that compounded selection problems for several teams.
