Kylian Mbappé says playing for Real Madrid puts him in Ballon d'Or spotlight

Kylian Mbappé has reflected publicly on his chances of winning a first Ballon d'Or, saying that representing Real Madrid automatically draws attention to such individual awards.

Mbappé stressed that his club status affects public expectations and reactions: "When you play for Real Madrid, the best club in the world, you are inevitably linked to awards like these. People talk to me about it when they meet me on the street. It is an extraordinary prestigious recognition for any player," he said.

Journalists will make the call

Asked whether he considers himself the best player right now, Mbappé gave a measured reply about differing opinions and the decision process behind the prize.

"Everyone has their own opinion. Some will say yes, others no. It is a debate and no one is obliged to think like me. This year could be favourable for the Ballon d'Or, but the award is given by journalists and they will be the ones to decide," he added.

The Paris-born forward, now a Real Madrid player, indicated that public talk and media attention follow big-club players — a factor that often shapes the narrative around seasonal awards.
