Chinese EV competition intensifies at Paris Motor Show
Of 61 brands at the Paris Motor Show, 25 are from China, pressuring European automakers on price, range and tech.

The Paris Motor Show has become a stage for a rapidly growing Chinese presence: of a total of 61 car brands on display, 25 come from China, offering new models, advanced systems and aggressive price points.
Chinese manufacturers are drawing attention with electric cars that promise long range, rapid charging and features built around artificial intelligence, while marketing their vehicles at prices intended to undercut rivals.
Meanwhile, European automakers are presenting electric concepts and fresh production models designed to protect their home-market lead and to respond to the pressure on price and technology.
Trade measures and local production
The expansion of Chinese-built electric vehicles in Europe faces additional tariffs imposed by the European Union on EVs produced in China. In response, some manufacturers are considering shifting parts of production into Europe to lower costs and improve competitiveness.
Interest in electric and hybrid vehicles is also being fuelled by high fuel prices, which is increasing buyer attention to running costs and range.
The Paris show, running from 12 to 18 October, underlines that the European car market is entering a more intense competition for customers where price, technology and availability will be decisive.
