Kiril Lazarov may coach North Macedonia's cadets at the World Cadet Championship
Lazarov said discussions are ongoing and that taking the cadet job would be a one‑tournament, additional challenge while he remains senior team coach.

15 October 2026 — Kiril Lazarov, the long-serving leader of North Macedonia's senior handball team, confirmed on Thursday that he has been approached to take on an additional role: coaching the national cadet side at the World Cadet Championship that will be hosted in North Macedonia next year.
For several years Lazarov has been at the helm of the A national team and has overseen notable results. The new proposal, he said, would be confined to a single tournament rather than a long-term assignment.
Discussions under way, no final decision
Speaking at a press conference, Lazarov said talks about the arrangement are ongoing and did not rule out the possibility that he could lead the youngest national team in that event.
When asked whether he would accept, he replied: "Why not? It's true, there have been talks on that subject. It would be a new, different challenge."
Lazarov framed the idea as an opportunity to test himself in another role while remaining responsible for the senior side, but stressed that nothing has been finalized and that any appointment would be announced formally if agreed.
