KK Madjari officially becomes KK Skopje
The club — second last season — will compete under the name KK Skopje and has invited its "Pirates" supporters to return to the stands.
On September 4, 2026 the basketball club known until now as KK Madjari announced an official change of name: the team will compete going forward as KK Skopje. The move comes roughly one month before the national championship season opens; last season the club finished in second place, its best result to date.
Club officials framed the decision as part of a wider effort to grow recognition and link the team more closely to its home municipality. They said the new name is meant to reflect “recognition, tradition and ambition” and to carry the spirit of Gazi Baba to every match.
New identity, same base in Gazi Baba
Club leadership said the rebrand is not simply cosmetic but a step toward building a larger and more visible sporting project. They emphasised the role of Gazi Baba as a neighbourhood with a strong sporting culture and as a place that produces athletes who learn discipline, teamwork and commitment.
The club specifically invited its organized supporters, known as the "Pirates", to return to the stands and help create a distinctive home atmosphere. Officials stressed the intention to unite local fans and stakeholders around the single name KK Skopje.
Administratively the change is presented as part of a long-term plan to increase the club's profile and fanbase—"from Madjari to Skopje", the club said—while preserving ties to the local community in Gazi Baba.
