Klekovski: Seasonal flu vaccination expected to start on October 21

Health Minister Sasho Klekovski said he expects the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign to begin on 21 October (Wednesday). He added he will be willing to receive a shot himself as a member of a risk group.

The Ministry's Immunization Committee met and set the campaign priorities, Klekovski said.

Schedule and supply

“Basically 1,000 vaccines a day; that will cover us until November 15, when the second shipment is expected,” he said.

According to the Ministry, nearly 25,000 citizens have already registered for the seasonal flu vaccine through the Moj Termin system on the website vakcinacija.mk.

The free vaccination program targets defined risk groups: people older than 65, those with chronic illnesses, healthcare workers, pregnant women, and children from six months to five years of age. Klekovski said the same methodology used in previous years will be applied, with priority for residents of long‑term care institutions due to higher transmission risk.
