Sasho Klekovski: Seasonal flu vaccination expected to start Oct. 16–25

Health Minister Sasho Klekovski announced that seasonal flu vaccination in North Macedonia is expected to begin between October 16 and October 25.

The first shipment of 30,000 vaccines has already arrived, Klekovski said, while a second batch of about 26,000 doses is due by November 15. He added that authorities are working to secure up to 80,000 doses in total; at present they have 56,000.

Logistics and priority groups

Klekovski said the Ministry is coordinating delivery and logistics with the Centers for Public Health so vaccination can start without delay. He also said he will be the first to be vaccinated to encourage public uptake.

He stressed that priority will be given to high‑risk groups according to diagnoses registered at the Centers for Public Health, and that registration must be made through the Moj termin module so officials can monitor the overall situation.

On the timing and supply he said: "In our country the vaccination will start earlier than in some of the neighbors that are much more developed, I'm not talking about the immediate neighbors, but about some neighbors who will start vaccination in November. I think the whole seasonal flu vaccination campaign will be carried out timely and appropriately. We have 56 000 doses and we are working to reach 80 000 doses. So it was important for us that 30 000 vaccines arrived and to start immediately with the highest‑risk groups. On 15 November we will have the next 26 000, and in the meantime we will try to secure the remainder up to 80 000 vaccines," Klekovski said.
