Narodna Srbija coalition withdraws from campaign and will back Student List

The Narodna Srbija coalition announced it will submit its signature list to the Republic Electoral Commission at 17:00 today and simultaneously withdraw from the upcoming election campaign, saying it will transfer its support to the Student List.

The coalition is formed by the Narodno pokretanje led by Miroslav Aleksić, the Ecological Uprising headed by Aleksandar Jovanović, and the New Face of Serbia under Miloš Parandilović. "We are withdrawing and will give our support to the Student List," the coalition said.

Internal talks and a last-minute proposal

According to participants in the talks, the decision followed an initiative by Miloš Parandilović, after which the presidency of the New Face of Serbia unanimously proposed that coalition partners withdraw their list and back the Student List. The New Face had warned it would leave the coalition if the proposal was rejected.

Representatives of Narodno pokretanje under Miroslav Aleksić had not confirmed the move at the time of the announcement.

The coalition said it will brief journalists at a press conference in front of the Republic Electoral Commission at 17:30, immediately after handing over the signatures.
