Kostovski: "There are no 'yours' and 'ours' children" after dispute over enrollments at Penko primary school

On 30 August 2026, Kostovski publicly answered criticism from the DUI party and residents of Čair over the enrolment process at the Penko primary school, stressing that procedures must be applied equally to all families. He said: "There are no 'yours' and 'ours' children; the law must be respected!"

Dispute over lists and eligibility

The disagreement emerged after municipal and school authorities published enrollment lists for the coming school year. Representatives of DUI and several residents from the Čair neighbourhood raised concerns about how candidates were selected and asked for clarifications from the school and municipal education bodies.

Kostovski responded by insisting the selection follows the legal framework for primary education and municipal regulation, and that individual cases can be reviewed within the established administrative channels. He emphasised that political affiliation or neighbourhood origin should not determine admission.

Officials said that families who believe they were treated unfairly can use formal appeal procedures set out in the education law and municipal rules. Kostovski reiterated the call for transparent handling of appeals to restore trust between parents, the school and local institutions.

The municipal education office announced it will monitor the process and publish any outcomes of reviews or appeals. The story is developing and authorities said they will provide further information to parents in the coming days.
