Bogovinje burglaries: 15,000,000 denars and a 400 kg safe taken
Tetovo prosecutors opened a case against four suspects after a string of break-ins in Bogovinje villages from April–September 2026.
On 21 September 2026 at 10:48 the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo announced criminal proceedings against four people suspected of a prolonged criminal offense — aggravated theft under Criminal Code article 236 paragraph 3 in connection with paragraph 1 point 2 and in connection with article 45.
Multiple burglaries in Bogovinje municipality
According to the prosecution, the four suspects carried out a series of break-ins from April to September 2026 in villages within the municipality of Bogovinje. Investigators say the group burgled more than ten homes, taking cash, gold jewellery and various types of firearms that the owners legally held with permits.
In one of the incidents in the village of Palchishte the suspects managed to remove a domestic safe weighing about 400 kilograms from the victim's house. The total value of the stolen items is currently estimated at approximately 15,000,000 denars (about €250,000).
The public prosecutor is actively gathering evidence connected to all the reported incidents and coordinating investigative steps with police teams in the region.
Following a proposal by the prosecution, two of the suspects have been placed in short-term detention for 48 hours pending completion of evidence collection. Two other suspects remain at large; the prosecution said that the time in detention for them will be counted from the moment they are found and deprived of liberty.
Authorities in Tetovo have not yet released the names of the suspects and the investigation remains ongoing.
