End of an era: Ancelotti confirms three players will not play for Brazil anymore

In recent days Neymar himself signalled the decision in strong terms, saying: "My adventure with the national team is over. I wrote history with it and I'm very happy because of that. I went through so much. I gave everything, I always fought for the yellow jersey, but I believe that I no longer have the desire to do that."

Ancelotti put an end to speculation about the squad's future and confirmed that the three veterans called up for the last World Cup will finish their international careers. He framed the change as a generational shift rather than an immediate overhaul.

Building the next Brazil around a retained core

"I think this World Cup marks the end of a generation of very important players. Starting with Neymar, but also Danilo and Casemiro – all those players who were over 30 during the tournament," Ancelotti said, underlining that age and the tournament's outcome prompted the decisions.

Despite the departures of those key figures, Ancelotti stressed he does not intend a complete reset. "I will not say that I will replace all 26 players. We will keep important players who can continue our work, like Marquinhos, to name just one," he added. The coach indicated he will mix experienced leaders with newer faces when shaping the squad for the next cycle.
