Kristaps Porzingis will be sidelined for an indefinite period and will miss the start of the new NBA season, the Golden State coaching staff announced on September 29, 2026.
The Latvian forward, who joined the Warriors this offseason, did not take part in team training after the staff confirmed he was absent from practice due to an unspecified health issue. Earlier reports had indicated Porzingis was fully ready for the campaign.
Golden State's General Manager Mike Dunleavy informed the club and public that Porzingis is not included in the group currently preparing for the season, but the organization has not released further medical details or a timetable for his return.
Injury history and recent form
Porzingis has struggled with injuries at various points in his career. Last season he managed only 32 games with the Atlanta Hawks after dealing with injuries and complications from viral infections.
The Warriors face uncertainty over their rotation as they begin preseason preparations without Porzingis. The team will rely on its depth up front while monitoring the Latvian's recovery and any updates from the medical staff.
