Cristiano Ronaldo officially suspended by Portuguese Football Federation
A disciplinary proceeding was opened after Ronaldo left the national team camp before the Denmark match; suspension is in place pending the inquiry.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been officially suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation after the body opened a disciplinary proceeding linked to his departure from the national team camp before the match against Denmark.
Disciplinary process and temporary suspension
According to the federation, a disciplinary procedure was initiated to examine the circumstances surrounding Ronaldo's conduct. The decision to open the case was taken by the Department for Non-Professional Football on October 9, 2026, and Ronaldo is suspended while the inquiry is ongoing.
"A disciplinary proceeding has been initiated against Cristiano Ronaldo. By decision of the Department for Non-Professional Football dated October 9, 2026, a disciplinary proceeding has been initiated against Cristiano Ronaldo in order to determine the possible disciplinary significance of the facts reported on October 7," the official statement said.
The suspension means Ronaldo will be barred from national-team activities until the federation reaches a final determination. The measure is temporary and applies only for the duration of the internal procedure.
Ronaldo's abrupt exit from the squad ahead of the Denmark fixture has stirred debate in Portugal and beyond, and the federation's move formalises an internal response that could carry sporting or regulatory consequences depending on the outcome.
