Cristiano Ronaldo: wants to be coach or owner of Manchester United
Former United conditioning coach Mick Clegg says Ronaldo carefully plans his career and could return as coach or owner.

Cristiano Ronaldo has not closed the door on a future return to Manchester United — but, according to a former club staff member, he would prefer to come back in a different capacity: as a coach or even as an owner.
Mick Clegg, who worked with Ronaldo as the Red Devils' conditioning coach during the Portuguese forward's first spell at Old Trafford, said he believes Ronaldo plans his career carefully and does not leave major decisions to chance.
Clegg on Ronaldo's long-term thinking
“I think he would gladly become a coach or owner of Manchester United. He always plans and does not wait for things to simply happen,” Clegg said.
Clegg used Ronaldo's high‑profile move to Real Madrid as an example of that planning, saying the transfer was a deliberately arranged step in the player's career rather than a spontaneous decision.
The remarks were made on 05.11.2026 at 22:41. Clegg's assessment raises the prospect that, once his playing career ends, Ronaldo could seek a formal, long‑term role at the club where he rose to global prominence.
