Criminal complaint filed after bank employee in Gevgelija appropriated 4.920.000 denars and 63.350 euros

The Basic Police Station OVR Gevgelija has filed a criminal complaint against K.K. (52) from Gevgelija after an internal investigation found he appropriated funds from client accounts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

According to the ministry, the suspect worked as a professional associate at a bank branch in Gevgelija and is charged with the criminal offence "embezzlement in service."

Details of the alleged scheme

The ministry's statement says that between 07.11.2025 and 03.03.2026 the accused, acting in his official capacity, on 13 occasions took possession of 4.920.000 denars and 63.350 euros that had been entrusted to him in the course of duty.

Investigators allege that, without orders from the account holders, he accessed a denar payment account belonging to two customers and transferred or withdrew funds, thereby causing material damage to the bank.

The criminal complaint was submitted to the competent public prosecutor's office and further procedural steps will be conducted according to the law, the ministry added.
