State of Crisis in Gostivar: Government Takes Control After Polluted Water Scandal

Residents of Gostivar will be under a special state of crisis regime for the next 30 days, after the Government decided to directly intervene in solving the alarming water supply problem. This move comes as a response to the serious threat to public health and the inability of the local government to independently overcome the challenge of polluted drinking water.

The decision to declare a state of crisis was made following the recommendation of a specially formed Steering Committee, which includes key ministers and directors of relevant state institutions. The main goal of this measure is to enable fast and efficient coordination among all state bodies, in order to return the municipality's water supply system to normal function in the shortest possible time.

Prioritizing Health and Demanding Accountability

The executive branch states that the health of the citizens is their top priority and that they are fully committed to a permanent solution to this burning issue. However, the state's intervention does not stop at just repairing the damage. The Government has issued a clear call to the Public Prosecutor's Office to conduct a thorough investigation that should uncover the causes and culprits for the situation.

"There must be accountability for every individual who put the health and lives of Gostivar residents at risk," the Government is decisive, announcing that there will be no compromise when it comes to the safety of citizens.

Meanwhile, public attention is focused on the judicial processes related to this case. The director, who is the main suspect for polluting the water, has already appeared before the judicial authorities, arriving at the hearing with a bottle of clean water in her hands, a move that provoked numerous reactions in the public.
