Ohrid shopper returns 2,000 denars after cashier mistake
A customer returned a 2,000-denar note she had been accidentally given back with change, sparing the cashier from a shortfall.

A visitor to a KAM market in Ohrid watched a short, unexpected episode at the checkout that restored her faith in everyday honesty.
The woman from Skopje who witnessed the scene says the checkout line was long and the cashier was hurrying to serve customers. A shopper in front of her paid with a 2,000-denar note, but in the confusion the cashier mistakenly handed back both the change and the customer’s original banknote.
A quick return, a big relief for the cashier
A few minutes after leaving with her shopping, the customer came back into the store and approached the cashier. Smiling, she took the money from her bag and told the cashier the mistake had gone unnoticed until after she left.
“Excuse me, in the rush I noticed only outside… You returned my two thousand denars plus the change. Here are the banknotes, so you don't end up short at the end of your shift,” she said. The cashier was at first speechless and then visibly relieved and grateful.
The eyewitness left the shop moved by the gesture. She said moments like this — small in scale but large in meaning — remind us that decency still exists and can restore people’s faith in others.
