Lazio 6-2 Sassuolo: Lazio top Serie A despite missing two penalties
Lazio converted a dominant attacking display into a 6-2 win away at Sassuolo despite missing two penalties and seeing the hosts reduced to ten men.

Lazio clinched an emphatic 6-2 away victory at Sassuolo on 27 October 2026, even after failing to convert two penalties, and moved to the top of the Serie A table under coach Gennaro Gattuso.
The Roman side were irresistible in Emilia-Romagna, scoring four times before half-time and leaving the break with a 4-2 advantage. Lazio’s attack repeatedly breached Sassuolo’s defence despite the side missing two spot-kicks during the game.
Game-changing moments
Sassuolo were reduced to ten men after the dismissal of Torstved, a decision that further tipped the balance and eased Lazio’s work for the second half. The visitors then wrapped up the win with additional goals after the interval.
Scorers: Torstved 7′, Espozito 43′ – Tejlor 2′, Isaksen 13′, Floriani 16′, Zakani 45+1′, Noslin 55′, 65′.
With this result Lazio recorded their eighth win of the season. The three points lifted them to first place in Serie A on 25 points, ahead of Inter, before the remaining fixtures of matchday 9 were played.
The manner of the victory — a dominant attacking display combined with missed penalties and a key red card — leaves Lazio positioned as one of the early title challengers as the season enters its next phase.
