Fake doctor from Shtip charged after scamming woman in Probishtip for €2,500
Police say the suspect posed as a physician and persuaded the victim her granddaughter needed an urgent intervention, obtaining €2,500.

A man who allegedly posed as a doctor in Shtip has been charged after convincing a woman from Probishtip to hand over €2,500 by telling her his services were needed for her injured granddaughter.
Police filed a criminal complaint after the June incident
“The External Office for Criminal Investigations Probishtip filed a criminal complaint against M.M.(23) from Shtip on grounds of suspicion of the commission of the criminal offense 'fraud'. On 03.06.2026 the accused defrauded a woman from Probishtip of the amount of 2.500 euros, posing as a doctor, who allegedly had to perform an intervention on her granddaughter for a false serious bodily injury from a fall,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said today.
The statement identifies the suspect only by his initials and age, M.M.(23), and places the alleged offence on 3 June 2026. According to the ministry's account, the suspect convinced the victim that an urgent medical intervention was required for what he claimed was a severe injury sustained in a fall, and obtained the money under that pretext.
The report was lodged at the External Office for Criminal Investigations in Probishtip and the case is now subject to further police procedures. No additional operational details or information about a possible arrest were included in the ministry's notice.
Authorities have not released the identity of the victim beyond her town of residence. The criminal complaint names the suspected offence as "fraud" and sets the formal investigative process in motion.
Local police said they will continue investigative actions; the case file will be reviewed by the competent prosecutor's office as part of normal procedure.
