Lille furious after late PSG comeback; president shouts "This is a scandal!"

Drama unfolded at Stade Pierre-Mauroy as Lille saw a near-certain victory slip away in the final minutes against Paris Saint-Germain, prompting anger inside the home camp over the referee's handling of added time.

Late goals and a furious reaction

Lille led by two goals for most of the match and appeared headed for one of the weekend's biggest surprises, but Paris Saint-Germain produced a dramatic turnaround in stoppage time. Vitinha reduced the deficit in the 91st minute and Marquinhos headed in an equaliser in the 95th, leaving the home side stunned.

The controversy centred on the length of added time: Lille officials and supporters argued that three minutes of stoppage time was clearly insufficient given the events in the closing stages. That decision provoked particular ire from the club's president.

Olivier Letang, according to reports, was visibly furious after the match and repeatedly shouted the same sentence in the stadium corridors: "This is a scandal!" His outburst underlined how strongly Lille felt they had been wronged by the timing of the referee's whistle.

Letang also declined to appear on the post-match Ligue 1 broadcast while the club gathered to assess what had been an agonisingly lost win. The mood at Pierre-Mauroy swung from euphoria to disappointment as attention focused on the final minutes.

Paris Saint-Germain left with a point thanks to Vitinha and Marquinhos, while Lille are left to analyse the closing stages and the officiating decision that left supporters and officials alike outraged.
