Lila Filipovska and Leonid Indov: emotional meeting with a symbolic gift
Leonid presented a white statuette with a dedication to Lila Filipovska as thanks for her support during difficult times.
Macedonian presenter Lila Filipovska had an emotional meeting in Skopje with Leonid Indov, who gave her a symbolic gift as a token of gratitude for the large public support he received during his treatment.
Photos from the meeting appeared on social media, showing moments of warm conversation and shared time spent in the capital.
Particularly touching was the gift Leonid prepared: a white statuette of two hands holding a heart, with a dedication. On the statuette it reads: "Leo from the heart thanks you for your humanity and compassion."
How it all began
The same tone of gratitude was expressed by his mother, Marija Indova, who publicly thanked the presenter. In her message she wrote: "Lila Filipovska is one of the missions of humanity, selflessness and sacrifice. A witness through everything we went through, so quietly, nobly and modestly. Today, from Leon with heart to Lila Filipovska."
The story of Leonid moved and united the citizens of North Macedonia in the summer of 2023, when the then 18-year-old boy suffered a serious accident while diving into water in Greece and was left with severe neck and lung injuries. Due to the enormous costs of long-term treatments in Thessaloniki, Skopje and Austria, numerous fundraising campaigns were organized across the country.
In addition to thousands of compassionate citizens, a number of well-known personalities actively campaigned for him — including Lila Filipovska, Mia Kostova, the group DNK and many others, who helped raise the funds for his rehabilitation.
Three years after the accident, Leonid is 21 and is an example of courage and perseverance. He moves independently with a specialized motorized electric wheelchair and is a successful student at FINKI, where he studies software engineering. Together with his team he won first place at the NASA Space Apps Challenge in North Macedonia, visited NASA's space center in Florida and recently launched the platform iznajmuvaj.mk to help people share and rent equipment. His story shows that when a community stands behind a humane goal, miracles are possible, and his smile and positive energy continue to inspire.
