Procession in central Skopje ahead of the Nativity of the Theotokos
Evening service at 17:00 and procession with the Troeruchica icon; morning services tomorrow at 07:30 and 09:00.
A religious procession will take place through the streets of central Skopje today ahead of tomorrow’s feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos, venerated as the patron of the city.
Service schedule and procession
The celebrations begin with an evening service at 17:00 at the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in central Skopje, after which a procession will move through the central city area carrying the icon of the Mother of God — Troeruchica.
On the day of the feast, a morning service will be held starting at 07:30, followed by the Divine Liturgy at 09:00.
The Brotherhood at the Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in Skopje "invites the faithful and all people of good will to participate in the solemn celebration of the Nativity of the Mother of God – the patron of the city of Skopje."
Participants are expected to gather at the church before the evening service; organizers said the procession will follow a route around the central urban area of Skopje and requested that attendees respect the liturgical character of the event.
