Alex Scott: Bournemouth sets €100m price as Liverpool eyes January move

Liverpool could be in the market for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott during the January transfer window — but any move will come with a very high price tag. Sources close to the situation say Bournemouth has softened its summer position and may consider offers next winter, provided the proposal meets strict conditions.

Club stance shifted after agent meetings

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that several meetings between Scott’s representatives and Bournemouth officials have prompted the club to rethink its approach for January. "Remember the name Alex Scott for 2027. After several meetings, not just one, between his agents and Bournemouth, the club decided to change its stance for the January transfer window," Romano said.

During the summer Chelsea were reportedly the most persistent suitors, attempting to sign Scott on two occasions, while Arsenal made enquiries before completing the Bruno Guimarães deal. Liverpool opened informal contact to assess Bournemouth’s position but did not submit a formal bid in the summer.

Bournemouth attempted to negotiate a new contract with Scott but failed to reach an agreement, a development that altered the club’s calculations ahead of the winter window. Romano added that Bournemouth could be willing to sell in January, "Now Bournemouth are open to selling Alex Scott as early as January. His departure is a serious and real possibility, but it all depends on the offer."

People close to Bournemouth say any bid would need to be substantial — at least €100 million — for the club to seriously consider a transfer. As Romano emphasised: "This is not about Bournemouth putting the player on the market. The club could be open to a transfer if a sufficiently good and significant offer arrives and if the player wants to leave. Those are the conditions."

Chelsea remain a leading contender and are maintaining regular contact with figures around the player. Liverpool’s interest is explained partly by squad needs: the club sold Curtis Jones to Inter in the summer and did not bring in a direct replacement, instead giving more minutes to Trey Nyoni and reshuffling midfield duties among Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. Recent absences through injury have reinforced the case for adding another quality central midfielder.

Any January approach will therefore hinge on three elements: the size of an incoming offer, Bournemouth’s league situation in mid-season, and the player’s willingness to move. With the price touted at €100 million, any club pursuing Scott will have to be prepared to open the vault.
