Liverpool wants to offer Curtis Jones a new contract while Inter Milan pursue him
Liverpool is asking for at least €40 million plus bonuses while Inter Milan offer around €35 million for Curtis Jones.
Liverpool has opened talks to offer Curtis Jones a new contract as the player’s future remains uncertain amid intensified transfer speculation linking him with Inter Milan this summer.
The Italian club has submitted an offer of around €35 million, while Liverpool insist on at least €40 million plus appearance- and performance-related bonuses.
Tensions in the camp after the friendly
Jones recently found himself in the spotlight after, following the friendly match against Wrexham, he clashed with Dominik Szoboszlai and Kostas Tsimikas. It is not clear what provoked the argument, but it appears Jones started it by arguing with his teammates.
During the match, Szoboszlai handed the captain's armband to Tsimikas, not to Jones, when he was substituted. Later, during the argument, Tsimikas was seen throwing the armband to the ground.
Andoni Iraola said he wants to keep the English midfielder in the squad and therefore Liverpool is prepared to offer him a new contract.
In the coming days it will become clear whether Inter Milan will improve their offer or Liverpool will come forward with new terms to secure Jones's long-term stay.
