Champions League: Aleksej Batrakov’s brace lifts Galatasaray; Sporting win

Galatasaray registered a 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the first of two Champions League fixtures on 3 November 2026, with Aleksej Batrakov scoring both goals in a blistering opening period.

Batrakov double gives Galatasaray control

Batrakov struck twice inside the opening 15 minutes, netting in the 12th minute from a loose ball in the penalty area and again in the 15th after a pass from Davinson Sanchez. The fast start gave the Turkish side a comfortable cushion they defended for the remainder of the match.

Stuttgart had a big chance to get back into the game in the 75th minute when Furih found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The result is Galatasaray's second victory of the Champions League campaign and improves their position in the group standings.

In the other fixture, Sporting Lisbon extended their momentum by beating Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0. The decisive moment came in the 59th minute when Isa Doumbia capitalised on a defensive error to score.

Sporting kept the slender lead until the final whistle. The win is Sporting's third of the season in the competition, a timely response after a surprise setback in the previous round and a domestic home defeat to LASK.
