Romelu Lukaku linked with MLS move as Atlanta United steps up interest
The 33-year-old is reportedly in the final year of his Napoli contract and Atlanta United have opened discussions that could lead to a move for roughly €10,000,000.

Romelu Lukaku could be on the move from Napoli this summer as Major League Soccer side Atlanta United has reportedly stepped up its interest in the Belgian striker, according to reports by Sacha Tavolieri.
Lukaku is entering the final year of his contract with Napoli after his transfer from Chelsea in the summer of 2024. He played a significant role in Napoli’s Serie A title win in the 2024/25 season, but featured in just five league matches the following campaign because of injury problems.
Squad changes and playing time
The arrival of new coach Max Allegri and the presence of competition up front, led by Rasmus Hojlund, have altered the experienced forward’s standing within the squad.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Atlanta United have increased their efforts to sign the all-time top scorer for the Belgian national team.
Initial talks between the parties are said to have begun and Lukaku is reportedly willing to consider a departure from Napoli. Any transfer would, however, depend on the financial terms. Some reports suggest Napoli would be prepared to accept an offer of around €10,000,000 for the 33-year-old striker.
For now the discussions remain at an early stage, and potential scenarios will hinge on both sporting fit and the financial package offered.
