Macedonian woman Bojana Peshevska missing with her minor child, police search

A Macedonian national, 33-year-old Bojana Peshevska, is being sought by police in Croatia after vanishing together with her minor child; her disappearance was reported on August 17 in Virovitica. Croatian authorities say Peshevska had been free pending a trial linked to a violent homicide case.

Background of the court case

The case currently before the County Court in Karlovac charges 25-year-old Jure Urodović with aggravated murder committed for material gain, while Peshevska faces accusations of failing to report a crime, forging documents and conspiracy concerning false content. Prosecutors allege the fatal incident occurred in November 2024.

According to the indictment, Urodović is accused of slipping pills into the victim Amar Sofić's drink, rendering him disoriented, and then inflicting severe head and body injuries with a wooden object. The wounded and naked victim was later thrown into the Kupa River, where he drowned.

Prosecutors also contend that on the same day Peshevska used a forged sale contract to transfer ownership of a BMW to her name for €2,500, despite being aware that Sofić was dead. The first accused in the murder charge remains in custody while Peshevska was defending herself from freedom before her disappearance.

The two defendants have pleaded not guilty at trial but presented completely different accounts to investigators. Urodović told police he returned to Peshevska's apartment after the altercation at the river and informed her of what had happened; he says she told him to keep quiet and arranged the vehicle transfer. Peshevska's version is that Urodović had already announced in her flat that he would "resolve" Amar to take the car, that he strangled Sofić after drugging him, and later brought her bloody clothes and forced her under threats to sign the contract.

Croatian police have released a physical description of Peshevska: about 165 centimetres tall, blonde hair and brown eyes. At the time she was last seen she was wearing a short loose top with lettering, short sports trousers and trainers. Authorities urge anyone with information to call the police at 192 immediately.
