North Macedonia's cadets start against Cyprus at the European U16 Championship Division B

From today (6 August 2026) to 15 August 2026, the European U16 Championship Division B will be held in Gevgelija and Skopje, and North Macedonia's cadet national team opens its group with a match against Cyprus in the sports hall "26 April" in Gevgelija starting at 18:30.

Focus is on the first match and on defense

Head coach Dejan Stojanovski announced the selection of players and emphasized the goal for the team: to be maximally prepared and focused to compete already in the opening match. He also called on the public to support the team in the arena.

"We are thinking only about the first match. We want to be maximally prepared and focused. Defense is our trademark and through it we want to build our identity. The goal is to play fast basketball, with high intensity at both ends and to improve from match to match," says the head coach of North Macedonia's cadet national team.

In Group B, whose matches are played in the "26 April" hall in Gevgelija, alongside North Macedonia and Cyprus the teams of Croatia, Switzerland, Iceland and Ukraine will also participate. The first games on 6 August are: 16:00 Switzerland – Croatia, 18:30 Cyprus – North Macedonia and 21:00 Iceland – Ukraine. Expectations are that the coming days will be a true celebration of basketball in the two host cities.
