Maximilian Baer’s 80th‑minute strike sends Dortmund to the top

October 24, 2026 — Borussia Dortmund climbed to the top of the Bundesliga table after a narrow 1:0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park.

Baer off the bench settles the game

Maximilian Baer, introduced as a substitute, produced the decisive moment in the 80th minute. The German international collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and, on his second touch, fired an unstoppable shot into the far corner past goalkeeper Atubola.

The win lifts Borussia Dortmund to first place with 17 points, three points clear of Bayern Munich — with Dortmund having one game in hand. Eintracht remain in 13th position with eight points after the defeat.

The match was played in Dortmund as part of the seventh round of the German Bundesliga. The result marked a return to winning ways after two draws for the team of Niko Kovač, and the visiting side left without points.

Dortmund’s squad and supporters celebrated a slim but crucial victory that gives them momentum in the early phase of the season, while Eintracht will look to respond in their next fixtures.
