Manchester City sign Ayyub Buadi for up to €100 million
City will pay €95 million up front plus up to €5 million in add-ons; the 18-year-old signed a five-year deal after a standout World Cup with Morocco.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Ayyub Buadi from Lille in a deal worth up to €100 million. The Premier League champions will pay €95 million guaranteed, with a further €5 million linked to bonuses, and Buadi has agreed a five-year contract.
World Cup form and a fast rise
The 18-year-old midfielder caught widespread attention with his performances at the 2026 World Cup, where he started five of Morocco’s six matches as the national side reached the quarter-finals.
Born in France, Buadi represented France at youth level up to the under-21s before electing to play for Morocco at senior level. His international form was a key factor in City’s pursuit.
Buadi is a graduate of Lille’s academy, joining the club at 14. He made his first-team debut just three days after his 16th birthday, becoming the youngest player in Lille’s history to appear in an official match.
City have moved to secure one of Europe’s most highly rated teenagers as they bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season, paying a fee structure that could reach €100 million if all clauses are triggered.
