Maresca requested a major reinforcement from Liverpool!
Manchester City is reviewing midfield options and Alexis Mac Allister has appeared on the list as a possible reinforcement.
Skopje, 28.08.2026 — Manchester City remains active in the transfer market, and one of the players attracting attention at the Etihad is Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool.
Due to the complicated situation around negotiations for Enzo Fernandez — for whom, according to reports, there is still no agreement between Manchester City and Chelsea — City’s management has begun searching for alternative solutions for the midfield. According to Italian sources, Maresca has placed Mac Allister among the names to be examined.
Contacts and the player profile
Di Marzio reported that initial contacts regarding the possibility of a transfer have already been established, but no agreement between the clubs has been reached. Mac Allister, who arrived at Liverpool from Brighton, has grown into a pillar of the team at Anfield with his technical quality, game vision and ability to respond to various tasks in midfield.
Such a profile could be appealing to Manchester City, which is seeking options for additional reinforcement at the end of the transfer window. However, any potential transfer would be extremely complicated: Mac Allister is under contract with Liverpool and is an important part of the team, so there are no signs that the club at Anfield would agree easily to his departure.
The fact that this would be a transfer between major English rivals further complicates the scenario. Even if a serious offer came from City, Liverpool would face a difficult decision whether to keep or negotiate the sale of their player.
At the moment there is no confirmation of an official agreement between the clubs, nor information that Liverpool is prepared to let the player go, but the open contacts indicate that Manchester City is considering this option. If the deal for Enzo Fernandez does not materialize, Mac Allister could take on an even more important role in the Etihad’s plans.
